Botox® is a form Botulinum Toxin Type A that is injected into the skin to temporarily reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Once the toxin is injected the muscles that cause the wrinkles are paralyzed so that wrinkles are unable to form from facial expressions.


Maki Wellness offers Botox and Dysport.


Both paralyze the muscles so that wrinkles are not able to form, but Dysport is reported to respond quicker to the paralysis and muscle weakening than Botox.


Dysport’s effects seem to last longer (6 months as compared to 3 or 4), and cost less than Botox. But, because Botox has a higher potency and may be appropriate for more severe applications, Botox continues to be a good choice for many patients.

  • What is BOTOX® and how does it work?

    BOTOX® is a safe and FDA approved treatment used to temporarily reduce the look of lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® is made from a purified botulinum toxin protein that is refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. BOTOX® is injected in small amounts into troubled areas, temporarily reducing muscle activity in the affected areas. This reduced muscle activity will reduce the look of lines.

  • How many Botox treatments will I need?

    Depending on the treatment you are receiving, the typical appointment time is 10-20 minutes.

  • Does getting a BOTOX® treatment hurt?

    Some patients find that BOTOX® feels like a pinch while others feel little to no pain from the injection. If you are concerned about pain during the treatment, you can request that your specialist use a topical numbing cream on the area before treatment.

  • How quickly can I see results?

    Many find that they start to see results after 24 hours though, it will take a week to see full results. You can expect these results to last between 4 and 6 months.
